My Great Grandfather's name in Swabian, Bavaria, Germany in 1831 was Gottlieb Hüber (March 1831). After immigrating to Philadelphia, PA, he married Margaret Hannah Welsh Barry under the surname spelling of Hueber as it stands today. My great grand father lived in the Swabian area of Bavaria until about 1850s. All his siblings went by Hüber until they migrated to other parts of the USA where some went by Hueber or even Huber. I was told the two surnames of Hüber or Huber have different pronounciations as well as different meanings. I know Huber means land owner, but not sure what Hüber means. I know my Hüber or Hueber family in America were very hard workers, especially hands on type skilled labor and engineers in the 20th and 21st centuries.
