Typesetting issue

It seems my browser (IE7—still very common I'm afraid) can't display ̇ (̇) when it follows a non-whitespace character. I see a square box instead. Would it be possible to avoid using this or replace it with TeX or an HTML symbol, in line with recent discussion at WT:WPM#HTML symbols versus TeX?.

On a less serious note, ℘ looks like a small turd rather than a squiggly P unless I turn my magnification up (and I use 120 dpi, more than the 96dpi Windows XP considers "normal"). , as used in Parametric model#Regular parametric model, is much clearer on the screen (albeit much longer in the edit window).
