Pronounciation of Yeo
[edit]What's the right way to say Yeo?--BigMac1212 20:43, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeo as in the first part of Yoyo (Yo). Kiwi8 16:19, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- The Mandarin pronounciation of her last name is yang. However, her name is not transliterated as a Mandarin name, she must have used a local Chinese dialect in the transliteration. Her name is the same as Michelle Yeoh's (one of the Bond girls). Gwendoline is from Singapore and Michelle is from Malaysia, they are from neighbor countries and their local Chinese dialects should be very close. Nontheless, one is spelled with a H and the other is not. In my opinion, many of these names do not follow any fixed transliteration rules, they might be just arbituary choice of spelling. Birth
[edit]Anyone know her date of birth?Rlevse 10:04, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Wiki has July 9/1980, IMDB has July 10/1977. Hmmm... Hotwine8 00:17, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- To make matters worse, someone on her IMDB boardwished her a happy birthday in December.... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.62.95.95 (talk) 04:56, 31 January 2007 (UTC).
- There's no birthdate on her website and I can't find any source for the 1980 date. Perhaps IMDB is right on this one? Simulato 08:01, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Other game voice work
[edit]Can anyone confirm if Gwendoline Yeo did the voice of Ohatsu in Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams? Coz if it isn't, it's beyond similar. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HS Yuna (talk • contribs) 21:18, 17 February 2007 (UTC).
-She is also listed as voicing 'Rika Raja' in the credits of Uncharted 2 as a multiplayer character yet no such character is in the game. My guess is that she is to appear in the Uncharted animated comic prequel Eye of Indra (probably as the sister of Eddy Raja, seen in Uncharted Drakes Fortune) and be added to the game as DLC later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.198.196.247 (talk) 15:19, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Correct, she was in Eye of Indra, not Uncharted 2, so I changed it. Also removed Uncharted 3 which hasn't even been announced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.168.68.175 (talk) 21:21, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Gwendoline Yeo.jpg
[edit]Image:Gwendoline Yeo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:22, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Nationality or citizenship
[edit]I have a complaint, I began to edit more or less the Wikipedia article Gwendoline Yeo but it turns out that a user came and reverted the edition knowing something that would add the nationality or citizenship of the actress, however I have not indicated reliable sources that say exactly that she is Singaporean or American. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gwendoline_Yeo&diff=prev&oldid=999564134 and https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gwendoline_Yeo&diff=prev&oldid=999565771 but what happens, it does not allow me to add dual citizenship in the infobox, is there any way to solve this problem of interest on this page. 148.101.45.208 (talk) 21:12, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for engaging on the Talk page. Per MOS:ethnicity specifying Wikipedia rules on biography leads, "The opening paragraph should usually provide context for the activities that made the person notable. In most modern-day cases, this will be the country of which the person is a citizen, national, or permanent resident; or, if the person is notable mainly for past events, the country where the person was a citizen, national, or permanent resident when the person became notable. Ethnicity, religion, or sexuality should generally not be in the lead unless it is relevant to the subject's notability. Similarly, previous nationalities or the place of birth should not be mentioned in the lead unless they are relevant to the subject's notability." For this subject's case, this is the United States and furthermore, Singapore does not permit dual citizenship. However, if you have sources stating she retains Singaporean citizenship, I'd be more than happy to agree to the changes you are proposing. Apoorva Iyer (talk) 21:17, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Of course I have it and there is the source: https://www.datingcelebs.com/who-is-gwendoline-yeo-dating/ although unfortunately I cannot find another reliable source about the actress's citizenship in Google search. 148.101.45.208 (talk) 21:40, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Forgive me, but I find that source a little dubious. Not only in and of itself, but also because while it states her nationality is Singaporean, it simultaneously describes her as "American" in the paragraph below. However, I think you have a valid point in questioning what her nationality and citizenship truly is, as to whether it is Singaporean or American. I think until we have better clarity on the matter, it is fair enough to describe her as Singaporean per the only source, albeit weak as it is, that we have regarding her nationality. Apoorva Iyer (talk) 21:45, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- I see that difficult, well it will be necessary to remove the US nationality in the initial part until it is clearly indicated if it is necessary to put the dual citizenship again well if you are not clear you can remove it, since that generates a lot of confusion for all users excluding IPs, in that case the link that passes to you right now when providing it does not give result or in Google searches either, which I can not understand what I base on trying to add or remove nationalities of other international actors if it is not of interest here.148.101.45.208 (talk) 22:53, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
