Composer

[edit]

The article is amazingly lacking in information of Schuller's importance as a composer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tgkohn (talkcontribs) 06:27, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Arranger and general Discography

[edit]

I've added an 'As arranger' section, as he did/does quite a bit of work arranging. I filled it out with a few pieces from the 1950s... I'll try to add more of his discography as an arranger, as well as conductor and sideman... --Tcxspears (talk) 18:46, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I took the liberty of marking it as a "partial discography" - it may cover his work as a jazz musician thoroughly, but I know he was involved in many classical projects over the years as well, both as conductor and as composer. I don't have enough information to expand the discography, though. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 13:38, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, the section was there and onyl contained a few of his jazz works, I just split it into Arranger, Composer, Sideman. I'm familiar with his jazz and thrid stream stuff, but it would be nice if someone could add some of his classical work... Tcxspears (talk) 15:04, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Her name is included without citation. While he wrote music for her and her instrument, there seems to be nothing online to suggest that she was one of his pupils. Please provide evidence or her name will have to go off the list of course :) 24.59.51.98 (talk) 14:06, 23 June 2020 (UTC) (ELS who needs to create a new account one of these days, having locked himself out of his old one, ah well) (I see Pfitzinger ("Composer Genealogies", page 485) lists Zeltsman, true.)[reply]

(That said, Pfitzinger lists without distinction? some composers who we might not necessarily regard as "pupils"- for example Marlos Nobre worked with Schuller but studied with Ginastera, and these are different things...
