I have a computer science background and am not familiar with the term. The article doesn't have enough context to let me know how I should connect this to what I already know. We need lots more context of where this is used, and also probably some examples. The use of generics like 'system/artifact' make it even harder to decipher this. -- cmh 14:46, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
I'd would advise you to look up the book "Designing the User Interface" by Ben Shneiderman & Catherine Plaisant ISBN-13: 978-0-321-53735-5. I am currently a Computer Science student in an HCI class, this book is a great introduction and can be useful in helping you learn HCI.
