Contradiction
[edit]The article says:
- "He was Bishop of Bazas from 1302 until 1313, and again in 1319. In 1313 he was transferred by pope Clement V to Saintes, Charente-Maritime but he arranged to exchange see with his nephew Thibaut or Théobald de Castillon, his replacement at Bazas. He died at Saintes in 1313."
Now, how did he become Bishop of Bazas again in 1319, if he died at Saintes in 1313?? Additionally, Konrad Eubel, Hierarchia catholica I, p. 537, says that Guillaume returned to Bazas, and at p. 516 says that Guillaume was reappointed to Bazas by Pope John XXII on 18 January 1318. That seems to suggest that Guillaume did not die at Saintes, but returned to Bazas. The date of his return is wrong, as far as Vatican documents are concerned (Jean XXII, Lettres communes Tome II, Paris 1905, p. 63 no. 6193, 18 January 1318).

Title of Article
[edit]The title of the article, and the first line, are an absurdity. The name of the bishop was NOT "Guillaume V Arnaud de La Mothe". The V simply represents the fact that modern compilers of lists count him as the fifth bishop of Bazas with that name. He was not Guillaume V in the same sense as Queen Elizabeth II, or Louis XIV, or John XXIII (who was the second pope to use that number).
At least one should correct the opening sentence to "Guillaume Arnaud de La Mothe, the fifth Bishop of Bazas to bear the name Guillaume...." The title of the article must be changed too.
