Egalitarianism and halacha
[edit]"The guide is not meant for minyanim that are completely egalitarian, but rather for those that strive to involve women to the greatest extent possible, within the parameters of Jewish legal decisions." I don't like that line, because many Egalitarian minyanim also involve women to the greatest extent possible within the parameters of Jewish legal decisions as they see them; that is, fully. (See http://www.kehilathadar.org/node/145, for example.) As a result, partnership minyanim can't objectively be described as "halachic egalitarian" or the like; they can only be described by discussing the details of what actually goes on there. However, I can't think of the best way to incorporate that information into the article. Little help? Moriarty00 (talk) 21:48, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- I struggled with the wording as well, but based it on the article I referenced, which made a point that the choice of "halachic minyan" as opposed to "egalitarian minyan" was purposeful. Let me play with the words a little, and then please check back to let me know what you think! NearTheZoo (talk) 22:51, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- Just changed the wording, adding a direct quote from the article describing the decision of what term to use in the title of the Guide. Please let me know if this sounds good to you! NearTheZoo (talk) 23:13, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
