[edit]Since there's a 'See also' pointing to the U. of Maryland at College Park, it appears that the Guarneri's are, or have been, on the faculty there. Is this true?
Fair use rationale for Image:Guarneri250.jpg
[edit]Image:Guarneri250.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fairbanks viola
[edit]Appreciation to the IP editors who added information from Steinhardt's book regarding Michael Tree's use of a viola made by Harvey Fairbanks. Although I knew Harvey Fairbanks and was aware of this viola, I had omitted mention of it because the only published reference to it (that I could find) was the brief mention in Indivisible by Four, and that passage also refers to other instruments (Steinhardt's Serafino fiddle, Soyer's Montagnana cello) that appear to have been early experiments for the musicians. I know of no evidence regarding how long Tree played the Fairbanks viola, and so I am provisionally changing "For many years" to "In the quartet's early years". If anyone can document the duration of Tree's use of this viola, please feel free to change back and add a source. If someone knows anything more about the Fairbanks viola, I would be glad to learn more about its subsequent history, here or on my Talk page. Brazzit (talk) 20:32, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
Hi Brazzit
Thanks for the note. I totally agree. I used the customary "after" to show that it was a model by Fairbanks using the Guarneri Conte Vitale as its model. I am very interested if you have any info on Harvey Fairbanks. Why don't we co-create a wiki page on Harvey Fairbanks as I would like to record as much info on his output as possible. I assume Michael and Harvey knew each other through their Binghamton connexion?
Thanks for your communication!
Yours,
