Proposed Improvements
[edit]Good Job! Jonah. It seems like you have had a great deal of resources to back up your revisions. It looks like the resources do not have any pictures. So if you could find some pictures of the Autodefensa Comunitaria, it would be great. The revisions you proposed to make is good! Happy Editing!
Major revisions
[edit]I am working with a class at my college and for a project I will be revising this page. I plan to clean it up by improving the grammar and adding a diverse range of scholarly sources. I also plan to add some more information about the situations in these areas that have lead to the formation of autodefensas groups and hopefully some more current information about these groups. This article was flagged for cleanup and marked as a bad translation from a Spanish. I will revise the grammar in the entire article to ensure that it flows better and actually seems like English. The next thing I will work on is adding sources. Currently this article has two sources, one is from the NY Times and the other is from a blog on Yahoo. I think that my scholarly articles will help make this article much more credible. Finally I will add more information and update the information given. Here is what I plan to add by section: Antecendent: First of all, I will update this heading because it is overly complicated and not the right word choice. Next, this section has no sources so I will add some sources. Finally, the wording for this section is confusing and the section is unfocused. I will fix the wording and focus this section of the effects that the war on drugs had on civilians in Michoacan because this is the part that is relevant to the topic of the article as a whole. History: Once again, I think that the heading for this section could be improved so I will probably change it to History of Autodefensas. The next very obvious issue is the fact that for this entire section there are eight paragraphs but only one source so I will add some sources. The first three paragraphs are interesting but not what I researched. I will try to fact check them but my emphasis will be on the information that they covered in the last five paragraphs of this section. I think that I will add more information on Autodefensas activity but I will also elaborate on the legalization process and the creation of a new cartel (los viagras) that evolved from Autodefensas groups. Equipment: This section is appropriately titled however it seems fairly unnecessary and lacks sources. I will touch briefly on the Armament topic because this has to do with the transformation of Autodefensas groups from vigilantes to gangsters. Clashes with the Federal Forces: This section has no sources however I did not research this so I will probably leave it untouched for now. Regulation: This section was partially covered in the History section so I will move more information down and add a bit more information about rural defense forces. Known Groups: Once again, I did no research on this topic so I will probably leave this untouched for now also.
Finally I will add some information on the corruption of Autodefensas groups in a new section. I will discuss forced confessions, trespassing, and drug trade which will serve as the bulk of my contributions.

Peer Review of Jkadens's Additions
[edit]You have a really detailed and outlined plan for what you want to edit. My one suggestion is that you maybe replace the Yahoo blog citation/information that existed here before with one of your sources, or maybe find another source that you could use to cite this information, because Wikipedia isn't a big fan of this. Also, with regards to focus, be careful that you're not being biased or deciding the most important aspect of each topic covered, as that isn't the job of a Wikipedian. Other than these small comments, your additions look good and helpful! Krawrght (talk) 14:19, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
