300 meters = 980 years? Did you mean 980 feet? If so, it would be better to say "1000 feet", since it's an approximation anyway. I'm not editing the article to correct this because I suppose it's possible that you did mean 980 years, as in "the stream has now eroded 300 meters down over 980 years".
