Accusations of manipulation

[edit]

It seems people are debating whether or not this should be on the page. Some argue that enough fans have voiced that Artist didn't deserve that it should be on this page. Others argue that it is derogatory to Artist and/or it hasn't been spoken enough outside of message boards. I personally feel that it should be on the page after it is "cleaned up" more because: 1. It isn't derogatory to Artist, it is just information that a large amount of people who watch the show feel is true. 2. Seeing as Animal Planet wouldn't release a statement saying "we cheated" and the show only had half a million viewers or so per episode that message boards run by reliable sources are enough to keep the article on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chastayo (talkcontribs) 17:36, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am not as concerned about the messages being derogatory toward Artist (which they are) as about the claims that the judges were biased, cheated or just generally hoodwinked the nation. Wikipedia has a policy, WP:BLP, which states "Biographical material must be written with the greatest care and attention to verifiability, neutrality and avoiding original research, particularly if it is contentious." Although this article is not a biography, statements about real living people still must meet the same standards. This information is clearly contentious and has not been covered in reliable sources, message boards run by reliable sources are not themselves reliable. Making claims that these people intentionally lied, cheated or played favorites could have an effect on their future careers and Wikipedia cannot publish such statements unless they are supported by sources. If there is a significant outcry about what happened on the show it will be covered in newspapers or magazines. There is no deadline, we don't have to be in a hurry to get the scoop before anybody else. Stardust8212 19:27, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The media won't say a poor black man won Groomer Has It because of discrimination. You know that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.181.233.63 (talk) 01:04, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If the media won't say it then neither will Wikipedia. So be it. That being said, I do agree with you and I am actively looking for any discussion of the finale which would make it possible to discuss the outcome either positively or negatively. Unfortunately the only google news result that turns up about the finale is a very short blurb which sums the whole episode up as "touching"[1] not enough to really write much of anything with, much less justify the information which some would like to put into the article. If reliable sources do show up I would be more than happy to assist in adding them to the article. Stardust8212 01:39, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think Jonathan's comment that was on the article justified the section. Chastayotalk 09:55, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Jonathan's statement only justified itself, not the rest of the original research and quotes from forums that surrounded it. Stardust8212 14:27, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is "Runner-Up" Necessary?

[edit]

I realize that the person who got second made it far, but if there is no prize for second place why is "Runner-Up" in the elimination table? If we do decide to keep it, we can fix the key because the description is poor, but I think it should just say "Out." I know it's not a big issue, but there's a dispute that may as well be resolved. Thoughts? Chastayo (talk) 16:46, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Last Names

[edit]

Anyone know the last names of any of the contestants from either season? I know from that Beverly Hills Groomer, Artist's surname is Knox and from the Dogs/Cats 101 shows, Jonathan's is David. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.84.245.7 (talk) 20:09, 28 June 2009 (UTC) Cassandra's last name is Reed. She is now a host for BarkleighTV.com. Lisa's is Leady. She works as a Wahl Clipper company rep. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.235.154.0 (talk) 19:40, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
