news: Grob Aircraft France develops the TPX Cobra, a successor of the G120: - Grob Aircraft France (GAF) presents Grob TPX Cobra trainer on June 28th 2024. refer to Flight Global. TPX Cobra has already flown more than 250 hours since 2019.

TPX Cobra development follows the search of the French Air Force for 22 trainers, to replace the current Cirrus SR20, SR22s and Grob G120As. It offers significantly higher engine power. It will be powered by a 750 hp turboprop engine PT6A-25C made by Pratt & Whitney Canada driving a seven-blade MT-Propeller MTV-37 having a diameter of 2.1 m. Having an MTOW of 2,722 kg allows to fly at FL250 (7,620 m) with a cruising speed of 250 kts (463 km/h) and a flight range of 865 nm (1,602 km). The full CFRP aircraft has a length of 9.92m and a wingspan of 11m, a tail height of 3.6 m. Production site will be Charente-Maritime in a new factory. The necessary jigs and tools are supplied by the German Grob Aircraft, from whom Grob Aircraft France (GAF) purchased the TPX Cobra technology.

GAF has broader applications in mind for the model. This is evident, among other things, from the proposed TPMX, a mission variant that can fly up to six hours thanks to external fuel tanks and could be used for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Grob Aerospace versus Grob

My understanding is that Grob Aerospace is a relatively small subdivision of GROB-WERKE GmbH & Co. KG, which is a large manufacturer of machine tools and production line machinery. So I'm thinking it might be appropriate to move Grob to Grob Aerospace, and use Grob for the parent company. Does that make sense? Or is my understanding of the business relationships flawed?BoKu (talk) 00:34, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know less about it that you do, but if you're correct, I don't have a problem with it. English WP generally does not use "GMBH" or other corporate identifiers in the title, so that was why I reverted it back here. Grob Aerospace is a redirect, so I could not move it there myself. I decided this was OK for now, and if someone felt it should be moved, they would bring it up, like you have. We can wait a few days and see if there's any objection, hten ask an admin to move it to Grob Aerospace. - BillCJ (talk) 02:27, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Grob Werke is correct aswell as Burkart Grob and Grob Aircraft, Grob Aerospace and so on..

As far as I can tell the article is accurate - the light aircraft div is still in operation under new owners and the jet program is in limbo. If there is more recent news it should be added! - Ahunt (talk) 00:51, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Grob lives! The Swiss owner of Grob Aerospace (a short episode) went bankrupt. The toadys manufacturer is Grob Aircraft. Category Grob Aerospace along with this names titel should change to Grob Aircraft (Would include all aircraft made by company Grob XY). --89.245.243.58 (talk) 20:57, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
