Note

This page, and several others, say that Colazzo was "sentenced to a long prison term". That is not correct; he was sentenced to death. Truman used his power as president to grant clemency and had the sentence commuted to life imprisonment.

Quite an edit with no citation

"It is unknown whether either man saw the other" became "Torresola quickly noticed the President's head sticking out of the window and hastened reloading. In mere seconds, Torresola had the gun aimed at President Truman. He squeezed the trigger and fired, but the gun jammed." No citation. I have no independent knowledge of this, but I assume that if Hunter and Bainbridge, the only cited source, had said anything of the sort, no one would have written what was there before. - Jmabel | Talk 03:58, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Seems like the only response this got was anonymous removal of my question and of the request for citation in the article. Since no citation has been forthcoming, I am restoring the older text. - Jmabel | Talk 18:31, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

These sentences appear at the end of the article: "Collazo is quoted as saying "It would not be justice to Griselio if we merely remembered him for his ability with weapons. We must remember the brave and expert guerilla of the mountains of Jayuya as the patriot who never had doubts when his country called him to completion of his duty."

Torresola left behind a young wife and two young children. He is considered a hero among those who favor independence for Puerto Rico."

It doesn't seem right to eulogize a man who attempted to assassinate the President of the United States. If anyone feels such quotes in his favor are needed, then at least an equal number of quotes in his detraction must be cited.
