[edit]Can someone please:
- confirm or deny that these are essentially separate structures (possibly made at different times) rather than one, originally continuous, structure
- discuss the origin of the name. There is something in Grim's Ditch (Harrow) but I would not describe its source as authoritative!

Oxfordshire
[edit]The Oxon section seems to break a handful of rules. It's almost a bit of a personal essay which lectures the reader on what to think and how to approach the science. Can it not please be rewritten to keep the good stuff but make it more standards-compliant? Not by me, I hasten to add. 82.34.153.236 (talk) 21:43, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Oxfordshire / West Berkshire
[edit]The article seems to conflate three Grim's Ditches/Banks into two across Oxfordshire and West Berkshire.
As far as I can see there are three totally separate ditches across those two counties:
- Oxfordshire - Grim's Ditch, Mongewell to Nettlebed. eg https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1006368
- Oxfordshire/West Berkshire boundary - Grim's Ditch, Ardington to Chilton, partly forming the county boundary, and looks like a continuation of the first one? eg https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1004825
- West Berkshire - Grim's Bank, Little Heath to Ufton Nervet, totally separate from the first two. eg https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1005375
The article lists the first two of those as "Oxfordshire" and "West Berkshire", and doesn't mention the third.
Everyone happy if I rearrange the article to include all three of those? Edbrims (talk) 14:26, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
Create three separate pages and keep this one as a brief overview? --RobinYad (talk) 17:46, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
Good point, though ideally we'd want nine new pages, for all the different Grims's Ditches and Grim's Banks mentioned. That probably does make sense, when most of them are totally separate structures that just happen to share a name, though it sounds like a lot of work. For now I think I'll add the missing section and do a bit of renaming, and have a crack at splitting them out when I'm feeling energetic. Edbrims (talk) 13:19, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
