July 2007

[edit]

As I said on WP:PM, I think this article should be merged with maillot vert. There's more information on that one, and the two articles are essentially about the same thing (though that article speaks more to the maillot vert in the Tour de France, it can easily include the information from this article). We should use the title green jersey, since this is the English Wikipedia after all, but that issue is further downstream. Nosleep1234 12:36, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree; this article distinguishes that the green jersey has more than one meaning. In the TdF and other ASO races, it's the points classification leader/winner. In the Giro d'Italia, it's the King of the Mountains. djharrity 22:30, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As I read it now, the articles have already merged; the lower part of Green Jersey is identical to Maillot Vert. Therefore I redirected Maillot Vert to this article.--EdgeNavidad (talk) 14:21, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I think it's pretty clear-cut (but, then again, I'm the one proposing it!). This article is no longer about any green jersey in particular. It's small enough to bear the merge (even if every byte from maglia verde were merged in, the article would still only be about 25K in size, very manageable). Furthermore, the name in English for the Giro mountains jersey seems to be "green jersey" rather than "maglia verde": 7,030 to 935 is a pretty convincing ratio. I'll give this till, oh, how about the end of the upcoming Giro for opinions, and if there's no consensus against it, I'll do the merge. Nosleep break my slumber 13:17, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How come green? This needs to be explained in the article.Curb Chain (talk) 06:46, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
