[edit]Obviously this song is not about marijuana. Although the lyrics can hardly be understood on the recording, they are about dead musicians and poets: "These lovely people played just for me" and "They helped me find myself / Amongst the music and the rhyme". But this song is known for its guitar solos, and no one cares what it says. He could mean anyone, from Homer to himself. RIP Hughie Thomasson Edit: i would like to add that the idea of poets and musicians being greater than "kings and queens" is not really a new one, but it's seldom been expressed so well.
