Bungarus niger → Greater black krait – Per Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(fauna) "use the common name where possible", the common name unambiguously refers to this critter. Also - reptile database, ADW. "black krait" is sometimes used regionally in India but is ambiguous as there is a lesser black krait. Looking on google scholar, many papers use this common name, though many just stick to scientific names in general. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 08:54, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Question- I guess same response here as in the other request. Does this take into account its common name throughout its range or just India? ie Nepal and Bangladesh. Also this and the name of the other species proposed are very similar. I note that Reptile Database has a singular English vernacular listed though. Yes - the international sources all call it greater black krait, while some Indian sources use either greater black krait or just black krait. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 00:29, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
