[edit]If anybody it's interested, this things should be noticed about this series:
01) Originality is surely not her mark: the three Dangaioh pilots remember a milder version of the three pilots of the Evangelions, from the eponym 1995 anime3 series. Also, the whole structure of the organization and of the base Agwaruda remembers a watered version (with a lot less "demons") of Evangelion's Nerv, with an almot one to one relation between the cast of the two series. Also, although if the very concept of the series seems to be a reprise of old mecha anime motifs, the fact that the overall series plot seems pretty much that of Mazinger Z (with, also, the "shake-hands" between Mazinger Z/Dangaioh and Great Mazinger/Great Dangaioh at the end of episode 13) doesn't help very much.
02) The article on Dangaioh (OVA) seems to imply that the series was cancelled, due to poor reviews and ratings. The plot, in effects, seems to be somewhat inachieved and the Mecha that gives the name to the series appears at the very end of episode 13- the last one. But this is not "Waiting for Godot". A "rule of thumb" of storytelling is that a story may be divided in four qurters, the fist dedicated to cast and background presentation, the two central quarters to the "action" and the last one to the resolution of all the narrative loose ends (Will Eisner, Comics and Sequential art). Great dangaioh stops dead on its trail, at the peak of the "action".
03) Characters design is an average professional one, but somewhat it fell short on one prioritary goal: to allow an easy recognition of the cast. In some occasions, it becomes difficult to ascertain who you are actually watching... also, the fact that the cast is quite wide and almost an entirely femininine one as his weight on this. 00:58, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
