No consensus. Don't see general agreement below due to opposition rationales stronger than most supportive args. As is usual with a no-consensus outcome, editors can strengthen their args and try again in a few months to garner consensus for this rename. Have a Great Day and Happy Publishing! Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the World Championships in Athletics → United Kingdom at the World Championships in Athletics – This is official name IkariSindzi (talk) 14:34, 17 July 2018 (UTC)--Relisting. Dekimasuよ! 19:53, 25 July 2018 (UTC)--Relisting. Dekimasuよ! 21:47, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose Not in World Championships in Athletics competitions. -- AxG / ✉ 16:19, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support "United Kingdom" per WP:UCRN but these pages will need moved also:
- Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics
- Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics
- Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics
- Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics
- Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics
- Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics jamacfarlane (talk) 21:03, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support per WP:CONCISE. This does not have to match the particular usage in the World Championship in Athletics in particular, it just has to be both inclusive and narrow enough (WP:PRECISE) to match the scope, and be understandable (WP:RECOGNIZABLE) as a classifying Wikipedia article title (WP:NPOVTITLE). One would have to be an athletics super-nerd to know that this particular competition uses the odd "Great Britain and Northern Ireland" in its own internal labelling. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 10:49, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support if we make it consistent with the other yearly articles and other relevant articles (though we'd have to use extreme discretion there and dicuss them on a case-by-case basis), as a more commonly recognizable identifier. Also if the name is changed it should still be specified somewhere in each of the articles that the team is technically represented as "Great Britain and Northern Ireland", perhaps in the lede paragraph. --Habst (talk) 19:18, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose per AxG and WP:OFFICIALNAME, the British Athletics team has always been "Great Britain", or "Team GB". The current title is the WP:COMMONNAME. Iffy★Chat -- 09:38, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- If Conciseness is the goal then the pages should be moved to "Great Britain at the xxx". To bring some sourcing in to this, the only good source I found when searching "United Kingdom Athletics", [1] (the official website), uses "GB & NI Athletics Team" in its meta description, suggesting this is the common name. Searching for "Great Britain Athletics" found [2] [3] [4] among a large number of sources all confirming my position above. Iffy★Chat -- 12:17, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- No, "Great Britain" might be the WP:OFFICIAL name they use, but it's not at all accurate. Great Britain is the island, so excludes Northern Ireland. If you don't want to use "United Kingdom" then "Britain" would be more acceptable, but WP:AT states "United Kingdom" should be used. jamacfarlane (talk) 17:55, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- Great Britain is the common name used at Athletics events. It's also the form used at the Olympics and at the Hopman Cup. There is no basis for using "United Kingdom" instead of "Great Britain". Iffy★Chat -- 18:13, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
