Location and plans
[edit]Located by the University of Rangoon June 12, 1997. 16 degrees 46 ' .008 North 96 Degrees 12'. 130 East. The top of the Great Bell is 25 feet below the bottom of the river. Soil around the Sunken Bell is very soft clay with no sand or gravel. Angle of the Great Bell is 18 and one half degrees. The sink rate of the King Dhammazedi Bell is one quarter to three eights inch per year. Five Divers have touched the King Dhammazedi Bell scince June12, 1997.
Written Salvage Plans have been submitted to the Shwedagon Pagoda but no working scale models are known to exist. Sub Bottom Profile images of the Great were taken in 1998.. These were not released and are presumed under lock and key in a high security location in Paris France.
