Railway Journeys for this series

[edit]

Big question - The initial paragraph mentions several railway journeys, but from what I have just noticed, the series first journey is being divided into seven episodes of 30 minute broadcast length. Technically speaking, isn't the information of the initial paragraph incorrect, despite it being referenced from somewhere?GUtt01 (talk) 01:25, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Paraphasing BBC summaries to article a no-no

[edit]

One user has already explained that summaries taken from the Offical BBC Website pages for this series is Paraphasing. Please don't do this; the summaries should be done in an original manner, not copying what is stated. GUtt01 (talk) 21:01, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Colonel Ward Pumping Station

[edit]

Big question, which might be for somewhere else than this article, but... Why is there no Wiki-article on the pumping station in Buffalo, New York, that was built by Colonel Ward? I find that most curious and mysterious... GUtt01 (talk) 21:46, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Viewer figures for series 1

[edit]

Can whoever put in the viewer figures for two thirds of the episode listings, please complete the last third of Series 1's episodes, if possible? Seems a shame to have just stopped there, since all episodes have been now broadcast. GUtt01 (talk) 22:12, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Recording of completed events should be in the past tense.

[edit]

I have again re-written the following section:

"Each series of the programme is originally aired as a series of 30-minute episodes, broadcast during consecutive weekday evenings, before it is later repeated in a revised schedule, with two episodes combined and re-edited to form a series of 1-hour episodes, described as "Reversions". Exceptions to this can be made...."

This information can only be stated about the programmes which have been shown. We do not know, and cannot know, whether or not this practice will be continued for future series, if indeed there are to be any other series. Presenting it in the present tense makes it sound like a book of rules which must be followed, which is nonsense. In particular, the phrase "Exceptions to this can be made" is just a statement of the obvious: producers of programmes and broadcasters can do whatever they want to do. All we can do here is record what has happened. It is quite likely that the single exception mentioned will remain that, and only arose then because the eight hours of programmes in the first series would not fit conveniently into the 30-minute slot at 18:30 on successive weekdays. Series 4 confusion

[edit]

I've just added season 4 episode 1 (Ref:s4ep1) but also looking at the Great Alaskan Railroad Journeys, it seems as those it's just episode 1 & 2 of those combined (Ref:ep1 & ep2). So not quite sure what is going on at the BBC site at the moment. Will see what is actually broadcast on the 25th of Jan. -- WOSlinker (talk) 12:14, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It looks as though they may be doing what they did with the first series of Great American Railroad Journeys in 2016, when the series was reshown later in the year but in a revised schedule (described as "Reversions") which combined and re-edited episodes of the original broadcasts to create a series of 1-hour episodes. However, as series 1 consisted of fifteen 30-minute episodes, one episode was an extended version that included previously unseen content. As there were five, 30-minute Alaskan programmes last year, the same may happen here. -- Blurryman (talk) 23:31, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
