Gee Bee Z
[edit]I'm not an airplane expert or anything, but I just saw a History Channel program on Kermit Weeks' private collection of historical aircraft and historic replicas. One of the replicas mentioned on the program was referred to as the "Gee Bee Z," which it said was destroyed in a world speed record attempt in 1931. Is this not a variant of the Gee Bee Sportster? The Granville Brothers Aircraft page also has a photo of another replica of this plane with the same black and gold trim. I believe the plane was named the City of Springfield. I don't know enough about airplanes to feel comfortable editing this page myself. Perhaps someone with an aviation history background could add some information about this model?
(For those who are curious, the program that I saw this plane mentioned in is an episode of Modern Marvels titled "Private Collections.")
