Overlooked

[edit]

I'm a big fan, but can he really be considered overlooked? He has a published biography, has a ton of reissues out on Blue Note, etc. Every great jazz musician is overlooked by some degree in our society.

— Yeah. I absolutely agree with you. Lamentable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aepyornis (talkcontribs) 15:29, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Grant Green discography

[edit]

Support split -Discography section takes up close to one half of the page and should be split to a new article entitled Grant Green discography. --Jax 0677 (talk) 01:48, 19 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life

[edit]

Nothing in the article whatsoever about his wife and family, serious drug addiction, reputation for ripping off sidemen, jail time, etc. A big weakness in the article. 2601:41:200:5260:184A:7CE7:11C2:30B0 (talk) 18:18, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Chromaticism

[edit]

The article suggests that part of the appeal was his immediacy and avoidance of chromaticism. While I agree with the first point the second is blatantly wrong. I have transcribed a few Grant Green solos (Blues for Willarene and Gooden's Corner) and I would say that most of his language is heavily chromatic as was the case and still is for most bebop and hard bop musicians. I am less familiar with his funk and pop oriented works and maybe there is little chromaticism in those recordings but it makes no sense to say he avoided chromaticism.
