Incorrect details of Gracilaria / Ogonori byproduct
[edit]The seaweed is incorrectly reported to be used to make gelatin, where it should say agar. This appears to be fundamentally incorrect, given the rudimentary definitions of gelatin (sourced from animal collagen) and agar (from algae).
- I agree with your assessment, but i nthis case I think you should check with the source cited so you don't put words in their mouth. I bet it says something akin to 'gelatin-like.' --Nessie (talk) 14:58, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Proposed merge from Ogonori into Gracilaria
[edit]- Merge - Ogonori is just when Gracilaria is used for food. I see no evidence that only certain Gracilaria species are used. The Ogonori article is very short and could be a section of the Gracilaria article. --Nessie (talk) 20:38, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support Merge The Ogonori article is essentially unreferenced, and could be integrated into the Use section of this article. --HighFlyingFish (talk) 20:14, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
Species
[edit]AlgaeBase reports 227 species names in Gracilaria that are accepted. DCDuring (talk) 17:09, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
