The dates 1865—1930 were given for this author but are contradicted by the 1936 date of Japan: Recollections and Impressions and also by the John and Mary books which appeared from the 1930s to the 1960s. The possibility that these were two different writers of the same name appears improbable, given that one of the John and Mary books is John and Mary's Japanese Fairy Tales (1957) and John and Mary's Aunt refers to the author's being raised in Japan. So I am removing the dates until a reliable source can be found. Robina Fox (talk) 20:06, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Those dates were indeed wrong (I have seen them used elsewhere, I don't know why?) - I have now inserted the correct dates, referencing Grace James' gravestone in Italy. Jaycey (talk) 18:42, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just a bit more information on dates - unfortunately the Italian cemetery where Grace James is buried actually have an incorrect birth date on their database (they are showing 1885 instead of 1882). This has percolated through into other sites (such as Find A Grave), who carefully 'correct' the date every time they spot it! (The correct information is shown here - http://tei.oucs.ox.ac.uk/pc/S699.html.) I fell into this trap myself and yesterday inserted 1885 into this Wiki entry - however, I have now corrected this (apologies). Jaycey (talk) 07:59, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
