Where does the name come from?
[edit]I cannot find information about where the "Graal" name comes from. Does anyone know, with a reference to from where they know? --Jhertel (talk) 09:40, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
@Jhertel: Graal is probably a pun, like in https://www.jrebel.com/blog/graal-and-truffle-for-language-interpretation > "The name comes from the original word: Holy Grail, basically tooting itself as the “Holy Grail of Compilers”". Similarly, there are Graal related slogans like "One VM to rule them all" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMmOntDWSgw
- As far as I am aware the play is on "seeing the grail of speed", although one could reason that the polyglot functionality is one of the best assets of GraalVM (hence the name VM). I suppose it will replace the JVM one day. 2A02:8388:1604:F600:A023:1A46:73DC:AD2 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 16:47, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
Releases: could use a table
[edit]I suggest to add a table so that people can quickly see when a certain GraalVM was released. That table should show the release date, e. g. "january 2021" or something like that. Other languages on wikipedia have that as well, such as ruby. Also there was a new recent release in 2022 which should be added; the current format is a bit weird though, so I did not add it myself (the sorting is reverse right now, with most recent GraalVM on top, in the current wikipedia article? That seems weird...). 2A02:8388:1604:F600:A023:1A46:73DC:AD2 (talk) 16:45, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
Upgrading from Stub-class
[edit]I feel like this article can be upgraded to Start-class or even C-class. Looking at the examples provided by Wikipedia's content assessment scale, I believe the article is much more developed than the example Stub-class article or even the example Start-class one. Is there a specific method to getting this article rereviewed? Caseofgames (talk) 15:06, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
