Names of Cantons
[edit]Which is the proper style--"canton xxxx" or "canton of xxxx"? I would think that "canton of xxxx" would be preferable unless "Canton xxxx" (with a capital C) was the official name. 71.131.249.67 04:42, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think it depends on cantons. Grisons needs the "of", but Ticino without the "of". Maybe you can raise the question in the discussion page of Switzerland, to have better answers. Cate 09:05, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Passenger haulage
[edit]The article contains the following uncited and undated assertion:
- Nowadays passenger trains are mostly pulled by Re 4/4 II (up to two for long trains) and sometimes by Re 460
My (uncitable but recent) experience is that many, if not most, Gotthard railway passenger trains are operated by a combination of ICN and Pendolino on long distance services, plus various emus on local services. Whilst there were some loco hauled trains (mostly on IR services to Locarno) they certainly weren't enough to justify the mostly in the above assertion.
I suspect this bit of the article is simply out of date, but cannot find a decent citable source to use in replacing it. Comments, and can anybody help?. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 08:58, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
- I can easily make a list (and show pictures) of pretty much all the different types of passenger trains on the Gotthard line, but I guess that would be more "original research" than "citable"... --Kabelleger (talk) 16:09, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
Who built line from Rotkreuz to Immensee
[edit]My copy of Cecil J. Allen (Switzerland's Amazing Railways), written in 1958, is fairly explicit that the original line built by the Gotthard Railway Company started at Rotkreuz, not Immensee. Yet both the English and German variants on WP assert Immensee as the starting point. Unfortunately neither cite a source for this. Can anybody clarify this, please. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 14:54, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
[edit]Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Where is the new Gotthard Base Tunnel?
[edit]The new tunnel seems to have been opened in 2016, shouldn't the railway route reflect this? Merrybrit (talk) 11:49, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
- It goes off above Erstfeld (41.6) and re-joins at Bodio (125.5).--Grahame (talk) 14:10, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

in the Route section should be updated for the new route, it still talks about tunnel construction sidings near Erstfeld and Bodio, if I understand correctly the tunnel has been in operation for 7 years already. I'd update it myself but I'm not familiar with the route template. Merrybrit (talk) 23:28, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
