On Notability

[edit]

I'm only an occasional user of wikipedia and it wouldn't be appropriate for me to attempt to improve this page directly, AND I appreciate (from the guidance) that this type of intervention is not relevant to any decision over the retention or deletion of the page. I would, though, like to suggest that someone with the requisite experience should improve the sourcing of the page (and perhaps bring it up to date as the discography is incomplete). Without doubt, Gothic Voices are notable: they are the UK's leading ensemble specialising in medieval vocal music, their records are numerous (over several decades) and they have received numerous awards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.208.124.21 (talk) 07:25, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I use Wikipedia constantly, so I feel competent to assert that Gothic Voices is indeed notable from their 40+ year history to the outstanding success of their very first recording and the acclaim their recordings have received in Gramophone and Fanfare. The essay does not mention their current connection with Linn Records, though the discography lists them. 2603:7080:6300:598A:BCEA:6F94:9615:469A (talk) 18:49, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Asserting" doesn't hold water on Wikipedia - articles need to cite sources to demonstrate notability. This article has been totally lacking in any citations for 18 years, so I am surprised it hasn't been deleted. I have now added quite a few references to support the content, and hopefully this will give the article some more credibility. More citations are needed, but it's a start.
