Rename to Goto Islands
[edit]I suggest this article be renamed to Goto Islands. There are precedents for translating shotō, rettō into "islands" in names, e.g.: Yaeyama Islands, Ogasawara Islands, Izu Islands, Oki Islands. —Tokek 04:53, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. I think I started the article "Okinawa Honto" (not logged in); jpatokal renamed it Okinawa Island. Makes good sense. Fg2 07:42, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
Dimensions of islands
[edit]Are the sizes of the islands off by a decimal place? That is, should Fukue be 17 x 13.4 and Nakadōri 23 x 7.4? That would make them more in line with the area of the city of Goto (for example). Fg2 10:59, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
Location of Islands
[edit]Could someone please find or create a map image that shows where these islands are located geographically with respect to the main islands of Japan? Maybe a zoomed out map showing a "blow up" of the islands -- that would be great? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.172.201.168 (talk) 23:54, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
