Reviewer: Carbrera (talk · contribs) 01:10, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am Carbrera, and I'll be reviewing this article for possible good article submission.

Full review coming very soon. Carbrera (talk) 01:10, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article as a whole

[edit]
  • Address the issue: "Warning: Gorilal (Bruno Mars song) is calling Template:Singlechart with more than one value for the "refname" parameter. Only the last value provided will be used"
Issue resolved. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:02, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

[edit]
  • Cover images needs to be moved towards the top of the infobox
  • An alt needs to be provided for the cover
  • You don't need to provide a source for the release date if it's already in the article
Issues adressed. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:51, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

[edit]

Paragraph 1

[edit]
  • Change the 'it' in 'it was released in Canada and US..." to 'and'
  • The "Purple Rain" statement should include a comparison; the current sentence sounds like a matter of opinion rather than a fact

Paragraph 2

[edit]
  • Change 'though the song has been' to 'but was'
  • Change 'The song appeared on a few charts' to 'The song charted moderately'
  • Delete 'once' from the MTV statement
Fixed both paragraphs. Take a look please. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:57, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Background

[edit]

Absolutely nothing; great job!

Production and release

[edit]

Paragraph 1

[edit]
  • Change 'All these' to 'The same'
  • Change the comma after 'Ronson was the performer of beats, Artie' into 'and'

Paragraph 2

[edit]
  • Add a space in 'R. Kelly'
  • Change the comma after 'two version were made available, a...' into a colon
Once again, both paragraphs have been fixed. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:03, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Composition and lyrical interpretation

[edit]

Paragraph 1

[edit]
  • In the audio description, change 'on' into 'in'
  • Add an apostrophe after 'Mars' in 'insinuating beat and Mars' bleating vocals'
Fixed. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:08, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Paragraph 2

[edit]
  • The lead sentence needs to be reworded; it doesn't make any sense to me
  • Andrew Chan's review appears to belong better in the 'critical reception' section of this article
The lead sentence you mean "Lauren Kreisler from the Official Charts Company described the song as an apparent bedroom antics."? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:08, 5 March 2016 (UTC) I have fixed it, moved into other section, since it didn't made sense here. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:16, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The latter issue has been corrected. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:08, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Critical reception

[edit]

Paragraph 1

[edit]
  • Replace the comma after 'most music critics' with a period and start a new sentence

Paragraph 2

[edit]
  • Remove the extra space after 'magazine' in Jason Lipshutz's review of the song

Paragraph 3

[edit]
  • Insert a 'that' in the sentence: 'He further added [that] R. Kelly['s] appearance...'
All these errors have been amended. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:32, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chart performance

[edit]

Paragraph 1

[edit]
  • Remove 'earlier mentioned' and 'on the following' from the MTV sentence; the sentence will flow better in my opinion
  • Perhaps combine the two Pop Songs' sentences into one larger sentence
Take a look. You have nothing written regarding the 2nd paragraph, is it fine the way it is? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:50, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's A-okay! Carbrera (talk) 19:54, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Live performances and reception

[edit]
  • The sentence describing the 'green color scheme' with a neon sign' needs to be shortened; the part following the two sources has too many clauses
  • Reword the sentence: "Mars performed the song with tearing feeling while he...'
Please take a closer look here. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:15, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Music video/Background and concept

[edit]
  • Insert an apostrophe in 'Bruno Mars' in the sentence: 'On October 10, 2013 it was announced on Bruno Mars' official website...'
  • This section could be significantly reduced; it's a lot for an article of this size
The former issue has been addressed, the second will take a little longer. But I have already reduced it a little.MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:45, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I reread the section and it makes more sense now. In fact, the article's been passed. I wouldn't change it. Carbrera (talk) 19:47, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have yet to amend the track listening and live performances. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:55, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'm a stupid. Could you fix those suggestions if possible? Carbrera (talk) 19:58, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's fine. I'm almost over. Once I have concluded I will let you know at the end of the page.MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:03, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Music video/Synopsis

[edit]
  • Insert an apostrophe in 'Isabella is shown to lick Mar[']s guitar
Amended. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:26, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Music video/Reception

[edit]

This section looks really good to me!

Tracklisting

[edit]
  • Tracklisting is not a word; change to 'Track listings'
Done. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:10, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Could you remove the clean and explicit notes from each listing? I realized this isn't necessary; then you would also change 'Track listings' to 'Track listing' Thanks, Carbrera (talk) 19:14, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Shall I leave both links? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:23, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
One will suffice. Carbrera (talk) 19:31, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
But you could also include a listing for the remix. I apologize, but then you would have to change the title back to 'Track listings'. Sorry about that. Carbrera (talk) 19:32, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's right as rain, good idea. I will do that. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:35, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
On another hand, I will leave it like you said in your first correction. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:18, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Are you done with your modifications then? Carbrera (talk) 20:19, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, please look at everything. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:20, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've been reading it over since I left my "I'm a stupid" comment. Looks perfect, definitely an improvement. Thanks for your cooperation; it's greatly appreciated. Carbrera (talk) 20:22, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Charts and certifications

[edit]

This section also looks fine the way it is

Release history

[edit]

Good and good

End of GA Review:

[edit]

Really well-rounded article, but I'm gonna put it on hold until the mistakes and suggestions and addressed. I'd be happy to pass it when the changes are made. Thanks, Carbrera (talk) 04:14, 5 March 2016 (UTC).[reply]
