[edit]Someone needs to write this so it's not a paean to the guy. --Dante Alighieri | Talk 20:11, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
be my guest dante.
It was requested (in the wrong place, my User page, not Talk, so I just now noticed it) that I be clear about what is POV about the article. Here are a few choice selections.
- "He writes unusual lyrical twists on different themes with a lot of dark humour." Really? Says who?
- "The music tends towards a lofi style with alternate lush and dirty passages." Lush and dirty, huh? Is this a review or an encyclopedia article?
- "his music remains something of an exclusive commercially inviable oddity well below the radar of major label stock." Huh?
I have neither the desire nor the responsibility to make changes to this article as it would require research into a subject that I have little to no interest in. Nevertheless, since no one else is doing it, I'll do it the "hack and slash" way. Super stub. Feel free to re-expand it with NPOV data. --Dante Alighieri | Talk 00:39, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Requested deletion
[edit]At Wikipedia_talk:Notability_(music)#Not_famous_enough_for_Wikki an IP editor, User:193.134.254.25, has requested the deletion of this article, asserting that he is Bell, and that he wrote much of the article. This is wrong on so many levels that one hardly knows where to begin, including the choice of venue. I'd suggest asking at WP:ANI for help sorting out the situation.LeadSongDog come howl 13:30, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]I believe the subject of this article does not meet the notability guidelines outlined in WP:Music.Only one reference is given which I have not been able to verify. I replaced the notability tag after an IP removed it without giving a reason Godfinger (talk) 22:29, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Google has quite a few results of you search for "Gustav Bertha".--TParis00ap (talk) 01:22, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, if you google the name his name does appear but much of what I see appears to be trivial coverage or advertising rather than 'reliable, verifiable third party coverage' specified in WP:Music. If you can find any references that satisfy this criterion then please add it to the article because it definitely needs itGodfinger (talk) 10:20, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Notability Tag
[edit]I replaced the notability tag because the article does not satisfy WP:Music. There is only one reference quoted which I am not able to verify and the external links refer to self published sources only. To establish notability the article needs reliable sources and none have been provided to date.--Godfinger (talk) 20:12, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Nomination for Deletion
[edit]This article has been tagged for notability for some time. Someone removed the tag but it has been replaced. I also note that there was some previous nomination for deletion but I can't find much information regarding this and so I am nominating it again.
I have tried to find information on Gordon Bell and although I find a lot of advertsing I cannot find any articles or information that satisfies WP:Music. The article seems self written, a form of promotional literature, and I also suspect that the anonymous IP that has recently been reverting edits without giving reasons in the Heckler article maybe Bell or someone associated with Bell since the IP originates from Switzerland. I do think that this article is a form of advertising and so should be deleted. On the other hand, it would be a shame to delete an article on someone if their work has reported merit and so if an editor is able to find some reliable verifiable references about this guy then by all means add them.--Godfinger (talk) 09:02, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'd like to add that there seems to be a few mentions on the internet if you google his name , but I cannot find anything actually written about him other than the odd mention on a forum, or myspace, youtube or gig listings. You can buy one or two of his CDs in the marketplace on amazon, and you can download mp3s from some sites but the impression I get is that this is a guy who is enterprising in using the internet to push his own music, but I just can't find anything of substance actually written about him.--Godfinger (talk) 13:40, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Artist notable and well known. Press coverage further down search results doesn't indicate lack of notability. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.5.58.254 (talk) 13:33, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- 'Notable' according to what source? 'well known' where? Just in Zurich? In a few local bars? You haven't established notability. It doesn't satisfy WP:Music. It is not verifiable and anyone can self publish which is why self published sources don't count. If you have sources from search results then include them in the reference section so that it can be verified or I will propose that the deletion tag be replaced. A well known local musician or creative musician doesn't mean that he/she automatically gets a wikipedia article about them, it has to satisfy certain criteria and show and prove that the subject matter is notable and this article doesn't seem to indicate that--Godfinger (talk) 14:42, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Finally!
[edit]OK, I have managed to find one mention in what appears to be a source that would satisfy WP:Music, so I will not propose that this article be deleted. I have added it to the notes section. However, this article does need some better sources overall--Godfinger (talk) 14:30, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
