Unsubstantiated additions

There has been a lot added to this page just now, a lot of work done, but unsourced as far as I could tell. New census figures are given (pop. quintupled), but leaving the reference to the old census in and not giving a new reference for the new figures, which could be especially confusing. Normally, I would revert out of hand, but the editor has gone to a lot of trouble, especially with constructing tables. We need some sources, some examination of whether any of the new is of undue weight or misplaced, and some lessening of the number of section subheads under climate that make the table of contents rather long.
