The archives are still available. You just got to know how to get there. See talk page
[edit]For example- This[1]] and this too.[2]
Archive searches can be done. Google is just hiding them like usual.- William 06:16, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- The fact that the archives searches are "hidden" it's not usual, the service has been online since 2006 on the adress http://news.google.com/archivesearch (that now simply redirects to http://www.google.com). I think that's valid information and should not be removed, specially because Google apparently merged the service with G News and didn't gave an official position about the situation. --viniciusmc 06:30, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- The first search doesn't actually get any results. Kostja (talk) 12:48, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- Google just might destroy wikipedia - and research in general. Is that what they had in mind? I am totally disgusted!! But hopefully someone will provide an alternative. Anything you can pay $5 a month for? Thanks. 22:45, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

missing info
[edit]There's less info here than in Google_News#News_Archive_Search. For more info, see http://searchengineland.com/google-news-archive-search-page-gone-forever-or-temporary-bug-89768 --Espoo (talk) 16:59, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
No longer available?
[edit]Google currently states flatly that "archive search is no longer available within Google News".[3] I added a sentence to the article, but I'm not at all sure I understand the situation and would welcome correction by someone who knows more about it. --MelanieN (talk) 18:53, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
update
[edit]Google posted an update to their support forum here
They say users can search back to 2003. Tisn't (talk) 23:57, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
New York Times
[edit]Apparently contrary to the statement in "History" the New York Times is *not* listed in the list of newspapers at https://news.google.com/newspapers
Also searches go back much further than 2003. Today (18 April 2015) I came on an article from The Miami News - May 2, 1958, while doing a normal Google Search. This result was also to be found by searching at http://news.google.com/newspapers , but not by searching at http://news.google.com . --PeterR2 (talk) 21:35, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
I've deleted this sentence from the article... Since 2008, the entire content of The New York Times back to its founding in 1851 has been available. Source: https://news.google.com/newspapers
The New York Times has their own archives, only available to paid subscribers. Itsfullofstars (talk) 06:01, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
