Goodwood, North WestPhuane – Bold move was reversed with no objection given. This is a miniscule town with very little written about it. Official sources use the new name and there is already a Goodwood, Western Cape.

From a practical point of view, Goodwood, North West province is a more useful name for the article than Phuane for this village. Goodwood in North West province can be found on Google Maps, Phuane cannot. Searches on Google find a few websites with information for Goodwood in North West province but not Phuane, but some of these may get their data from Wikipedia, so it is possibly a circular argument. Because Phuane is a family name, searches of Google shows some results for people with that name. Searches on Google News failed to find anything relevant to either name. There are other places called Goodwood, such as Goodwood a suburb of Cape Town. The Goodwood in North West province and its other name Phuane are mentioned in the Dictionary of Southern African Place Names.
