[edit]Historical references to "Gong Hill", near Farnham, Surrey.
If anyone has any historical information/sources on the "battle" of Gong Hill, 893, be very interested.
Anglo Saxon Chronicles mentions a battle around Farnham for this year following Danish raiding party in Thames.
Parish Council(our history-www.frensham-pc.gov.uk/history/) gives more detail.
Local houses around oldest part of Frensham(millbridge) called "Dane Hill", "Dane Wood", "Saxons" and also interestingly "Dragon Lodge".
Was "Gong" name of Danish King, or leader?
Does Folly hill have any connection, as I have been told by unverified local enthusiast?
Many thanks for any inputs History of words (talk) 14:03, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
