Issues
This used to be a pretty decent article. Short, but good. As it stands now, paragraphs 2 - 4 all look to be original research, a cardinal sin on Wikipedia. Also, because of formatting issues, they all could be copyright violations, lifted straight off another site on the Internet. If someone can, please look into these issues. I'll assist when I can, but I have other fires to fight at the moment. — Frεcklεfσσt | Talk 13:03, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- The paragraphs you mention seem biased and don't even really discuss a golden parachute. They are talking about an exectuve artificially lowering a stock price and then getting a payoff from a takeover artist...a golden parachute is typically used to *prevent* hostile takeovers since the purchaser would have to deal with the cost of the golden parachutes (they would kick in when the company is bought out and the executives are sent packing). This just seems like a really biased section with a lot of uncited information and should be removed altogether (since the two paragraphs don't even refer to golden parachutes) - 207.181.239.91 (talk) 02:21, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Removed. Thanks for the input. — Frεcklεfσσt | Talk 12:00, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
The claim that the term was coined in 1961 is false -- see [1] for references in the 1940s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.14.228.1 (talk) 00:28, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Looking more closely, all pre-1950 sources from google books which use the term appear to in fact be post 1960 publications with bibliographic/OCR errors. If someone can provide a verifiable citation for a pre-1960 usage, we can update the page accordingly.Dialectric (talk) 11:09, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
