Feedback from New Page Review process

[edit]

I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: Based on length, would this not be better as a section on the England men's national football team article?

Hi there Kingsif. I was hesitant to make this page until I saw Category:Nicknamed groups of association football players, which is about other famous or notorious groups of footballers. Most of these are club teams but there was also Breslau Eleven (Germany 1930s), Golden Team (Hungary 1950s), Wunderteam (1930s Austria). I believe this page passes WP:GNG due to sources in which pundits, players and managers talk about this specific group of players as the "Golden Generation", often as a criticism or doubt. There is also a subtle difference in that the term Golden Generation is the topic rather than "England national football team in the 2000s" as the sources are about the accuracy or relevance of the nickname, there were minor players in that decade who were not contemporarily or retrospectively referred to as part of a Golden Generation. I appreciate input from other users. Unknown Temptation (talk) 13:38, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying it doesn't pass GNG, I'm saying that the content is brief enough to be suitably included at the whole team's article - and I'd be even more confident saying such a merge is warranted for Wunderteam. From a technical perspective, there's no need for it to be separate (and it doesn't suggest that all the England players during the time were part of it, IMO).
