Opening heading
[edit]Why has somebody caustically commented that the rocks are "imaginatively" known as The Stones? It is common that a community will refer to local features in a simplistic manner, since there is an assumption of familiarity! It is likely that the inhabitants of Godrevy would refer to the sanded foreshore as simply "the beach" rather than The (Hayle) Towans, and to Hayle itself as "the Town". In any event, I'm going to remove it.LessHeard vanU 13:27, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
Duplication / Title
[edit]The lighthouse is also covered by material in Godrevy Island. That article is lifted woird-for-word from another website (see the link on Talk:Godrevy_Island).
Should this article on Godrevy lighthouse be retitled Godrevy Lighthouse? And should a separate article be written about Godrevy the area and Godrevy headland?

- I shall take a look. If the Godrevy lighthouse article is a WP:COPYVIO it needs deleting and then redirecting to this article (there seems little point in having two articles relating to the same small area), with the link brought over here. LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:44, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have deleted and recreated Godrevy Island and Talk:Godrevy Island as redirects to the relevant pages here. I here also include the link from which the copyvio was created, in case editors wish to put the link into the article and also judiciously take relevant information to add into the article (perhaps a separate heading for lighthouse/shipwrecks?) - link; [1]. Have fun! LessHeard vanU (talk) 22:00, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- OK, that all seems very sensible. I will have a go at expanding the article in line with other pieces in the category Headlands of Cornwall (for example, my contribs to The Rumps and Pentire Point. Thanks. 87.113.92.208 (talk) 11:11, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have now added a subtantial amount of new material. The lighthouse stuff has become a sub-section. I think this article needs to be re-titled Godrevy Head. 'Godrevy lighthouse' could redirect here? 87.112.74.137 (talk) 10:15, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have responded on my talkpage, but have WP:BOLDly made the headland into its own section with a general intro covering both that and the lighthose. Further expansions can then have their own (sub)sections. LessHeard vanU (talk) 14:01, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'll have a look too because I know the area well. As a start, I think the lead needs tidying to bring it in line with other Cornwall location articles. I've also got photos somewhere which I'll pop up to Commons and bring in to the article. Andy F (talk) 08:27, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
