Arsenal rumour

[edit]

The rumour about Arsenal does not belong in this article because it was just rumour. The referenced article even says Media speculation last week suggested... and goes on to say The Sunshine Stars' chairman Mike Idoko also insisted there has been no approach from Arsenal."It all began in the media and ends there," he told BBC Sport."If there was any substance to the story, we expect Arsenal would approach his club first."We haven't had any official communication with Arsenal or any Premier League club about [Godfrey] Oboabona.". Just because it is in a paper, doesn't mean it belongs in Wikipedia. ClubOranjeT 22:12, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree; the BBC (!) felt it required a dedicated article. It's therefore worth mentioning. GiantSnowman 07:47, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree. The BBC clearly stated it was speculation, they quoted the sun which is noted for Tabloid journalism, the BBC also confirmed that both the club and the player denied there was any approach. Therefore it was just rumour and does not belong in the article. This I feel was all clearly attributed above and yet you still reverted.
I also do not agree with your edit comment; in my view, you were bold adding the speculation, I reverted, and you just reverted my reversion without first discussing, contrary to Don't restore your changes or engage in back-and-forth reverting ClubOranjeT 10:28, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The BBC covered the rumour and went to the people involved for the truth. Hence, it's worth including - and your new wording is a good compromise. Also, that's not how BRD works - the content you are seeking to remove has been in place for over 4 years, see WP:STABLE. 14:35, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
