Page move
[edit]Hi, I moved this page to GoTo (astronomy) to broaden its scope a bit. I did not think the page move would be controversial, but it got moved back. A goto is a common type of planetarium projector. Do I need to make a formal move request? I'm not sure why there is disagreement about it. The mount that moves the device is very similar for telescopes and for planetarium projectors, and the manufacturer is the same too.[1] Also, that last external link has been removed, even though it discusses that "GOTO developed telescopes". Isn't that where this Wikipedia article's name comes from?Anythingyouwant (talk) 16:38, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
- I had a second look based on your talk above. A planetarium is not the same as a telescope. The planetarium company called "GOTO" makes telescopes but there is no evidence there that they make "goto telescopes", i.e. a computer controlled self aiming telescope, the best I can tell is they make telescopes for education institutions and slap their name, "GOTO", on the things. A company named "GOTO" is unrelated to the topic of this page, at best it may show up as a hatnote or "See also" pointing to a "GOTO INC" company article, if it merits notability. Evscope
[edit]This may be an emerging market segment. EVScope, Stellina and a few others are not made by traditional scope makers nor are mainly for eyepiece use but are intended to send their picture to the smartphone or tablet that’s controlling it. Is there a generic name for these things?Jim.henderson (talk) 14:25, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
Better scope for photo?
[edit]Just my opinion, but that is one puny example of a GoTo telescope. Assambrew (talk) 02:24, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
