No mention of the spam filter's sporadic high rate of false positives and deletion of msgs without consent from the user?
It isn't notable enough how many people got upset when they started deleting msgs without asking the user and without giving the option of not deleting potential false positives? (nowadays there is a filter trick to prevent that from happening, but still...) --TiagoTiago (talk) 03:09, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- Notability on Wikipedia means that it is mentioned in relaible third party references. If you can find references then put it in. - Ahunt (talk) 11:47, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Insistence of mobile number
I think it's quite important a section is created relating to Gmail's new sign up process, where if you do not give them a mobile number, or your mbile area number doesn't tally with what their marketeers want, then you can no longer get a new gmail account. 62.255.248.225 (talk) 16:10, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- I just checked the new account creation procedure and can find no evidence that this is correct - what is your reference for this? - Ahunt (talk) 16:48, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- (Thanks for putting this in the right place) You obviously didn't go right to the end. Because when you do, you get this; http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/4879/gmailc.jpg - 62.255.248.225 (talk) 08:58, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- And what does it says when you click on "I don't have a mobile phone, can I sign up?" - Ahunt (talk) 12:43, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- Okay to test out what you are claiming I just went to Google and created a new Gmail account, tested it and it works fine - I did not have to give a mobile phone number or any other information except Name and Country. - Ahunt (talk) 13:12, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- Interesting. I have done the same and got what you see in that jpg again. What country you in? UK here. 62.255.248.225 (talk) 09:15, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- It takes you here http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=114129#nophone - at least you can see I'm not making it up. 62.255.248.225 (talk) 09:15, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Canada. That page you posted is useful, let me add some information to the article based on that. - Ahunt (talk) 12:09, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Nice one. Frankly, I'd like to see some referenced criticism, but I imagine that will come in the next few months - the new procedure seems to have only started since the start of July. Thank you, AHunt. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.255.248.225 (talk) 14:42, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- If you come across any reliable sources criticizing this move (i.e. not blogs) then either add them or post them here and I'll add them. - Ahunt (talk) 15:49, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
