Wrong article name

[edit]

This article and the article for the planet are at the wrong name. The number 1214 indicates that this is in the 1979 extension to the Catalogue of Nearby Stars by Gliese and Jahreiß, rather than the original catalogue (1957) or the first update (1969) by Gliese only. The CNS only uses the "Gl" designation for stars <1000. The correct designation is therefore "GJ 1214" not "Gliese 1214". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.126.76.193 (talk) 22:37, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article title was GJ 1214 until Metebelis moved to Gliese 1214 on February 23, 2012, because he thinks Wikipedia should be using proper name, not acronym, and I disagree with him. Sources always use the acronym. You can beg him on his talk page. PlanetStar (talk | contribs) 21:36, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, no need to beg :) There's a discussion happening over at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Astronomical_objects#Gliese_vs._GJ, which I see 46.126.76.193 has already contributed to. When there's a consensus established there, I'll be happy to implement that, whatever it is. Metebelis (talk) 10:52, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
