Atlanta Knights

[edit]

Metropolit is the only player to ever have played for the Atlanta Thrashers and IHL Atlanta Knights, even though he only played one game with the Atlanta Knights. As this is a unique bit of information it should not be removed from the article. You can verify this by checking his stat sheet at hockeydb.com. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dkendr (talkcontribs)

Source? Yes its easy to see that he played for both teams, but where is your source that he is the ONLY person that played for both? Or is that your original research. Furthermore, what's the encyclopaedic value if it is indeed true? Its trivia. Chris Chelios could very well be the only person to play for both the Chicago Wolves and Chicago Blackhawks, but what does that matter? It might be a good trivia question for the Thrashers broadcast team, but that's about it. ccwaters (talk) 18:44, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What's my SOURCE? Are you kidding me? Hockeydb. Dkendr (talk) 11:36, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
WP:V doesn't work that way; you can't just handwave a challenge and say "It's on this database somewhere, go find it for yourself." Instead, "Any material challenged or likely to be challenged, and all quotations, must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation."  Ravenswing  06:53, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're free to disagree and a third vote settles it as far as I'm concerned. CCWaters, however, should have posted the question on the talk page before deleting. Dkendr (talk) 11:37, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was trying not to comment, because I hate getting in these pissing contests, but the other two are correct. As for if he should have proposed it on the talk page first please read WP:BOLD and WP:BRD which actually state the opposite. -DJSasso (talk) 11:43, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No pissing match here (unless he's also the IP that keeps adding that nickname in this article, but I highly doubt it). ccwaters (talk) 14:31, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion settled it as far as I'm concerned. The nickname's returning is not my doing. Dkendr (talk) 01:42, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IPs adding nickname

[edit]

Its time to put this nickname thing to an end. Its unsourced and has no place in the article. ccwaters (talk) 13:47, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why would it need to be sourced? It's common knowledge. Do we need a source to refer to Wayne Gretzky as "The Great One"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.231.117.58 (talkcontribs)
WP:VERIFY, WP:RELY. ccwaters (talk) 19:35, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As it happens, Gretzky's nickname is sourced ... and is required to be. Wikipedia requires that any fact that is challenged be verified by a reliable source with an inline citation.  Ravenswing  02:43, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
