B class BLP assessment

[edit]

Hey FatherGoose, I noted you self-rated the article B class. I'm not going to reassess it because I don't do those things but I would strongly advise you to unrate it and get someone neutral to do the job; assessments are almost always pickier than you think they'll be and my suspicion is the current article would have a hard time making C class, let alone B. Some relevant problems with the article are a lack of images, poor citation format, and an almost total lack of information about the first 25 years of his life including such information as parentage, education and interests. Also professional relationships with other performers, career highlight performances, and more analysis of his lasting impact on the profession. Once you've covered all those topics, but not necessarily to a perfect standard, you'll be looking at B class, but probably not before. - DustFormsWords (talk) 22:55, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(Compare it to the example B-class article) - DustFormsWords (talk) 23:34, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Going by the B-Class criteria, the citation style imperfections would not be enough to disqualify it from a B, though it would keep it from being a GA.
When I queried the prior assessor, the response I got was basically "not as long as the Captain Beefheart article", which was not a meaningful rationale. However, your point regarding missing key biographical and professional details is sound. I lament that such information is probably not available from reliable sources at this time.--Father Goose (talk) 01:38, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, I understand. I'm having the same trouble working out how to get Paul Randall Harrington up from its current position. I suspect to further improve it I have to go contact some archivists in the United States. I wish you the best of luck and I'm keeping an eye out to see how you go. - DustFormsWords (talk) 02:22, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think this is as far as I can take Frosty's article without procuring a copy of his autobiography or waiting for his obituary. There are other topics I'd rather spend those hours/dollars on.
Really nice save on Harrington, BTW.--Father Goose (talk) 03:13, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
