Idea

[edit]

Would it be an idea to have an extra column listing the Glee Cast performers? Just a thought. Zacitty (talk) 12:06, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The thought has come up before, but the problem always comes down to reliable sources to determine who is actually singing on each track on the album. With the "List of songs" pages, since it's a performance, there's usually a review that can be cited, and those pages are about performers, not necessarily singers. But the albums songs are the full-length versions: there can be other performers on the verses that were cut for the show, and people who appear to have been singing may not have been. For example, Harry Shum's first recorded music wasn't until "Asian F"; similarly, Heather Morris's wasn't until "Britney/Brittany" and Naya Rivera's until "The Power of Madonna". Another, less-obvious example was "Get It Right": Lea Michele is singing lead, but although she appears to be accompanied by Jenna Ushkowitz and Heather Morris, who are the obvious people to credit, in actuality it was Nikki Anders, one of the studio musicians, who sang the high harmony line. Equally obscure: in the big finale to "The Purple Piano Project", "You Can't Stop the Beat", the second verse, which was not staged on the show, has a major duet between Kurt and Artie.
Because it isn't possible to get clearly accurate and reliably sourced information on all songs, the last time this came up we concluded it would be better not to set up a column for it if the best we could do would be a partial entry. If you'd like to get another sounding about it (or about any other issue), please feel free to start a new topic on the Glee task force talk page. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:44, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
