Was 1948 her first year at the University of Oregon, or the year she graduated from the University of Oregon? Given her obvious energy and dedication, it's most likely that something significant in her life was happening between 1944 and 1948. One of the sources says she "transferred" from Willamette University, which may imply a relatively quick transition between them, rather than a gap of four years – but not necessarily.
