IIRC, the almost-spoken deep bass at the beginning says:
Tear the roof off the we gonna Tear the roof off the mutha-sucka Tear the roof off the sucka
3 or 4 times then it goes into You've got real type of thing going on

I had this album when it originally came out, and I could have SWORN that the words were NOT "Tear the Roof Off the SUCKER"; my memory is that they were just a little different - "Tear the Roof Off the MF". Does anyone else remember this? Jrpearman 14:00, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- In versions I've listened to, that part I didn't notice. 67.188.172.165 02:37, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

- Well regardless of whether or not the original words where actually "Tear the roof off the mother fucker" the more popular version and the single this article is about says "tear the roof off the sucker." I also have the original and I swear it says "tear the roof off the sucker," therefore unless you have reliable sources that prove your claim is true the article shall remain the way it is. String Synth being used
[edit]Does anyone have information about the string synth being used on this track (definitely one of the funkiest in history, IMHO)? It sounds like a Solina String Ensemble, however I haven't been able to get this confirmed... Mley 22:18, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
Analysis
[edit]The analysis section of this article is great, but it's also unsourced. Does anybody know if it's based on a published source, or whether it's original research? — Malik Shabazz (Talk | contribs) 02:38, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Other Samples
[edit]I didn't know how exactly to source this, but:
An early MC Hammer song, "Turn This Mother Out" (1988), lifts its title line (sampled repeatedly) from this song.
Also, while not precisely a sample, Public Enemy's "Gett Off My Back" (1992) has a line sung to the "You've got a real type of thing" melody: "We've got the real Flavor Flav and he's down with the sound and he's telling you to gett off his back." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.146.224.211 (talk) 23:44, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
