I am going to conduct a GA Review of this article. It is massive and might take me a while to check everything. Reviewer: Shearonink (talk · contribs) 22:46, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Passes the threshold "immediate failure" criteria: No cleanup banners, no obvious copyright infringements, etc.Shearonink (talk) 22:46, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
    B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
Per MOS:DUPLINK a link should appear only once in an article. Please fix the overlinking - I noticed this especially for the group's various albums & some tour names, etc.
    I have fixed them, thanks! — Simon (talk) 04:32, 22 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Is it verifiable with no original research?
    A. It contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline:
    B. All in-line citations are from reliable sources, including those for direct quotations, statistics, published opinion, counter-intuitive or controversial statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged, and contentious material relating to living persons—science-based articles should follow the scientific citation guidelines:
Serious issues with various references. Please check the following: Unknown service: miak.or.kr
    Archiveurls are already added. — Simon (talk) 04:15, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    Unknown service: miak.or.kr / https://web.archive.org/web/20090228004543/http://miak.or.kr/stat/kpop_2007_2.htm%7Curl=http://miak.or.kr/stat/kpop_2007_2.htm,
The miak.or.kr reference is still in the article but the webarchive link isn't working so it is unverifiable, it needs to be deleted and another reference found for the associated statement.
@Shearonink: Erm... Nope. Check reference #18. The archiveurl is still working. I can see no problem with it. — Simon (talk) 12:57, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok, I think I know what it happening. The Links tool is picking up the old/invalid URL. No worries - thanks for fixing all the refs.

     Done all. Thanks! — Simon (talk) 09:07, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I really like the referencing style of #244, placing all the sources into one reference - I'm putting that away for further use in my own editing.
    C. It contains no original research:
Even though initially the references were problematic, it contains no OR that I could find.
    D. It contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism:
Sometimes on these "fan-type" articles there are direct lifts of content from other sources - nice to see an article with no copyright violations.
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. It addresses the main aspects of the topic: {{GAList/check|yes}
In the "Legacy" section, the monetary worth of album sales are rendered in won(During 2009–2011, the group generated 68.8 billion won, raking in 21.7 billion won in profits) or aren't specifically stated (Their second Japan tour Girls & Peace (2013) was the most attended concert tour by a K-pop girl group while their third Japan tour (2014), which grossed 31.6 million) I think it would be useful to have the amount the won or whatever the monetary unit is also in $/USD in those sentences (since I think more international WP readers would be familiar with the worth of dollars than the South Korean monetary unit).
Also in the Legacy section this sentence ->"On the other hand, Soshified, Girls' Generation's English international fan community, were able to raise over $100,000 in helping various charitable causes." doesn't quite make sense when it uses "On the other hand". Its implication is that there is some odd comparison between GG's awards and the fans' raising money for charity?... I think the sentence wants to say something along the lines of how wide GG's fanbase is, how motivated they are, etc.
I have converted KRW to US$, and for the fanbase thing, I have removed it since I think it is superfluous. Thanks! – Simon (talk) 06:04, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    B. It stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style):
  4. Is it neutral?
It represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each:
    comprehensive but not overly-detailed
  5. Is it stable?
It does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute:
  6. Is it illustrated, if possible, by images?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid fair use rationales are provided for non-free content:
Hard to find sometimes for performers, there are so many photos available online but so many can't be used. Good job.
    B. Images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
Because there is so much content to cover in this article - I think it might be the largest GA nominated-article I have ever Reviewed - I am going to take a day or two to read it over and check all the references etc - to make sure I haven't missed anything.
Congrats to Simon for all their hard work. Shearonink (talk) 06:20, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
