Fair use rationale for Image:Michael-Jackson-Girlfriend1.jpg

[edit]

Image:Michael-Jackson-Girlfriend1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:51, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't this technically a Paul McCartney song...

[edit]

He wrote and composed the song and it appeared on London Town before the cover version on Off the Wall. 74.69.234.115 19:02, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. It's not a Michael Jackson song, it's a Paul McCartney song that Jackson covered. However I believe that McCartney originally wrote it for Jackson to record, it's just that the Wings version ended up coming out first. I still think the article should be renamed; the trouble is that Girlfriend (song) isn't specific enough as there are several other songs with the same title.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 10:14, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I thought they changed it to Girlfriend (Paul McCartney song). That would make sense. But someone changed it back. It's written by Paul McCartney, his name should be in the title. It's not a case of being released after the cover (like "I Wanna Be Your Man", another McCartney composition) where the Rolling Stones released their version first. It makes no sense! 74.69.234.115 (talk) 01:47, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agree - the Jackson version is a cover, and we don't normally identify songs by who covered them. -- Beardo (talk) 00:23, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's what this article??? This is revisionism. This song was composed by Paul McCartney and you can hear on his album "London Town". And McCartney also plays music on this song. Despite this, on the main article Paul McCartney is not credited as musicians. (Same things for musicians Wings). This article has no value. For this song, you must use the credit on Wings album (London Town) Why use credit on Michael Jackson album? And if tomorrow Justin Bieber cover this song, you are going to use credit on Justin Bieber's album. This article is disinformation. It does not respect the rules of Wikipedia. (and i understand now why people say that Wikipedia is not a serious source)

Background needs citation needed tag

[edit]

Where in the world did the info in the first paragraph come from?? It feels very fabricated but maybe it just needs a legitimate citation.

I am new to wiki editing so I’m not sure how to add the citation needed tag. 72.177.8.45 (talk) 22:05, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
