Taxon identifiers

[edit]

I copied the info for Taxon Identifies from Girella cyanea--sorry I don't know how to do this!! If someone could help here that would be great--or point me in the right direction. Thanks Cabrils (talk) 10:00, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cabrils - everything looks fine to me, the article is actually really nice. What in specific do you need help with? All the information in the article is correct as far as I've looked.--SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 13:58, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the helpful and supportive feedback User:SkyGazer 512! Plantdrew has nailed my query. Cabrils (talk) 09:46, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cabrils:, you need to go to Wikidata to get the item number there in order to get the correct taxon identifiers showing here. While Wikipedia articles usually show a link to a Wikidata among the tools shown on the left side of the screen, newly created articles won't yet have a Wikidata link. You can follow the Wikidata link from a pre-existing article (such as Girella cyanea), then search for the scientific name of the species for your new article, and copy paste the item number (it's shown at the top of the Wikidata page, and starts with a "Q") into the |from= in {{Taxonbar}}. Thank you Plantdrew. That’s a huge help. And thanks for tidying things up too. Cabrils (talk) 09:46, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
